Archana Jaju: Rooted in craftsmanship

Archana Jaju’s eponymous label is an exploration of India’s vibrant textile heritage, blending deep-rooted traditions of handwoven fabrics with a contemporary, accessible sensibility. Every design is marked by the fine balance between craftsmanship and modernity, evoking a sense of ageless elegance. At the core of this work is a fierce commitment to preserving indigenous techniques while experimenting with new forms, making our traditional crafts everyday statements.

Where It All Began: A Dream Planted in Chanderi

Archana Jaju’s grandfather took the humble craft of Chanderi from the looms of Madhya Pradesh to the rest of India. Two generations later, Archana married into a family with a 100+ year history of manufacturing and retailing Indian fabrics.

These influences form the foundation for the brand's commitment to authentic textiles. Today, Archana Jaju works with hundreds of artisans across craft clusters in India to make wearable works of art that honour its creator, wearer and the planet.

Ink & Intention : Kalamkari

At the heart of Archana Jaju’s eponymous label is a celebration of ancient Kalamkari in the Srikalahasti style. This technique sees master craftspeople paint freehand on soft woven fabric using natural dyes, a 23 step textile art that isn’t for the faint of heart. Every fabric is bleached, softened and sundried to create the optimal surface for these special pens filled with natural dyes.

These artworks are then meticulously air dryed and washed before another layer is painted on it. This process repeats for several weeks resulting in unique, non-replicable artworks, making every Archana Jaju creation a one of a kind.

Living Cultural Heritage

Like language, culture is a living, breathing part of our identity. At Archana Jaju we celebrate traditional textile craftsmanship, giving it a meaningful place in the present - from boardrooms to weddings. For us, this means every garment is crafted using handwovencotton or silk fabric. Our nature inspired motifs, draw from our oldest artisanal wisdom coupled with ageless trends, and handdrawn kalamkari and embroidery elevate each creation - whether it’s a sarees or crop top.

Through Archana Jaju’s vision our rich textile heritage becomes a part of everyday life.

Conscious Creation

India’s oldest traditions have always honoured the planet, giving back as much as it takes. In partnering with craft clusters, we ensure that this traditional wisdom continues to thrive in contemporary design. Every incredible colour in an Archana Jaju garment is nature’s gift.

We use traditional, natural, plant-based dyes to bring alive vibrant, earthy tones. This method ensures that the garment is safe for your skin, and our water and land is not contaminated by harmful chemicals. We also partner with leading manufacturers to build a repository of natural dye extracts that expand the global palette of plant-based, chemical-free dyes.
